I can't believe it. Martha fit in quite well, I think, and I like how the Doctor gave her a bit of a kick start. And I like how Gwen and Martha admit that they never had a thing with Jack. YAY!
And dreamy!Ianto. Omg, how cute was that? "We dabble along." *awwwwwwwww*
Oh! And the Tosh/Owen. I thought it would be very... awkward. But it seemed like Jack/Ianto all over. Okay, we have a date, but I'm not going to stop flirting. :D That was so cute. It reminded me a bit of what happened in Adam, only this time it was real and so much better.
So, curse you! Curse you Torchwood Crew for the end! But gloves come in pairs!

But is it just me or did that PHARM logo look like Lucy Saxon was behind the whole thing? And the whole mentioning of politicians and such...
And bring Owen back, you fuckers! (and the Jack/Ianto-kisses)

I'm SO happy they killed off Owen - and I totally hope he stays dead. He was really annoying, didn't like him at all.

It's Torchwood, not bloody SGA where they can just get another one from the SGC. In Torchwood we even care for the assholes as long as they are on the team and not just malicious, mind-altering aliens. Every character did something to "deserve" being killed off, but they take "just" the asshole. Great.
Owen was an asshole, but way less than season 1. I started to like him, because he really changed a bit, cared for people without going all mushy. And especially in "Reset" he really was a credible character (and after his confessions in "Adam"). Then they kill him off.
If he doesn't come back, I'll find the Torchwood Crew in September and do something really stupid and nasty.
There's got to be something, Weevil bite, Rift-energy, gloves...

In the beginning, I actually liked him, but later I was just like: Get rid of him, get him killed, get him eaten, whatever. He could never decide what he wanted, one ep he was like that, next one like that. That bored and annoyed me, so yeah, I'm fine with him being killed off. Tosh/Owen also was something I never understood XD

The moment, he turned nice he was dead. Was kinda stereotype...

I think Gwen is the most inconsistent character. She has no intention of leaving Rhys but she's always looking for a second fuck. She's quite annoying in that.
I was actually quite interested what they want to do with Owen. He went through quite some changes in the late first season that were quite interesting. At least he quit the thing with Gwen when he met Dianne. And the Weevil Fight Club was an awesome idea. His softness was a bit ooC in TtLM, but that was less annoying than the new Jack/Gwen-and-whatever-might-come-of-this-we-won't-tell-you-if-our-writing-just-sucks-or-they-are-going-to-cheat-on-Rhys-and-Ianto stance.
Maybe I'm Doctor Who spoiled, but the good guys don't just die in the Whoniverse. Jack doesn't die, Gwen didn't die and Ianto didn't die either.
Kat: Robin Hoodukumai on February 15th, 2008 03:29 pm (UTC)
Yeah, well, at least since she's decided to marry him, she stays more or less clear of the boys.

I didn't like the fight club scene at all, it was so.. mental. Yeah, Dianne left him, shiny. Shit happens. At least he was sad for a few eps, but the "Omg, my lady from the past is gone, let's do something stupid"-thing was just like WTF! If you want to get yourself beaten up, do it properly and don't scream "Get that thing of me" at the wrong time, just to tell people later that you felt absolute peace in that freaking cage *sighs*

Atlantis should have taught us, that even the good guys die. And yes, Torchwood isn't Doctor Who, it's darker and I think we'll watch others die.
the oncoming whirlwind: dw: ten - save/desirescap3goat on February 15th, 2008 03:50 pm (UTC)
I loved Weevil Fight Club because it was so true (for me). There's a lot of raw emotions simmering in everyone of us people hardly let go of. They accumulate to something big we channel in the wrong way. What surprised me most was that Jack didn't understand. Jack, of all people, who doesn't beat up people - 'kay - but fucked everything with a postcode.

Atlantis should have taught us, that even the good guys die.
Yep, because some shit-decisions have been made without thinking them through. They make someone a main-character after accidentally having many eps with him, feel forced to put him in EVERY ep, everyone gets bored - let's kill him!
I don't think the writing of Torchwood is very unique or thoughtful on the best days, but now and then they managed to do good character stuff.
And the hell it looks like Gwen wants to stay away from the boys. "Nobody else would have me." - "Not like I love you." - they're overdoing the "omg, you're the father-figure I seem to have looked for all my life." it makes me angry and sad because they destroy the bit of credibility Gwen needs for her job at Torchwood. Where is the supposedly gentle and caring girl, firmly planted in her relationship with Rhys? She's at her best when she's giving in to the bad side of Torchwood or has forgotten Rhys... yay.

Anyway. I don't believe he's dead. The trailers definitely look like he's coming back. And there's definitely not the "we killed Owen and we have no intention of him coming back" attitude. Then they wouldn't carry this over to next week...
Kat: GA/PP - Addisonukumai on February 15th, 2008 03:58 pm (UTC)
Jack's fucking people is his way of beating them up.

Yeah, well, but watching good people die ruined Atlantis for me (okay, that and really boring episodes). Even though Carson's supposed to come back (so much for R.I.P.).

I don't think that Gwen really loves Rhys. But I think she needs him to love her, to care for her. And that's the thing what I like about their relationship even though I feel sorry for Rhys (because I wanna marry him *coughs*)

No way Owen stays dead. After that trailer? Never ever. And the annoying ones always survive. Just take a look at Kavanagh. And I don't think you can really die with Torchwood - unless you're called Suzie, of course *lol*
the oncoming whirlwind: tw: jack - game overscap3goat on February 15th, 2008 04:18 pm (UTC)
See? I love Kavanagh! :D
Yeah, people are sometimes annoying, but Owen got more depth than just a part-time-fuck for Gwen. I do believe they planned to kill Owen off for good - at one point. As they did with Suzie. Now, there's a way better storyline with him coming back (because of the Weevils? Or he did breath in some of the Mayflies?) and emotional trauma. Same thing with Rose being defragged (or what was that?) and not being dead - just more interesting (to me).

I think they should really let Gwen have an epiphany of some sorts sometime - and make her stop fawning over Jack by letting her know Jack and Ianto are finally at it. Or just finally kill of Rhys because it'll be better for him in the long run. Why do they do that to him?

Tosh/Owen is doomed. But maybe... she can get over it by dating him for a while. My opinion is that Tosh/Martha is the correct choice. XD

OMG.
Why did I read this? Nyaaargh!
I haven't seen season 1, but from everything I'd seen, I *liked* Owen! What do you mean, they killed him? Was there a body? A funeral? Is there any chance of him coming back? Gnarl.

There is a body. They plan a postmortem in the next ep.
*mumbles* GLOVES COME IN PAIRS!

I liked Owen. He was a big asshole in season 1 (omg, you need to see it! Because my glove-line makes no sense like this) but he changed. For the better. Without losing the wayward-son aura. He was so sweet in this ep with Tosh and... omg.
But nothing happens without a cause. They can't kill a main-character and get away with it. It's bloody, fucking Torchwood! *curses some more*

Um, if you're interested, I've searched around for spoilers...

Please. Spoil me. I think it's got to do something with weevils and the gloves and... *cries*
Nothing could be worse than Owen's death and him staying dead and the chances are good he'll do...

*g*
Well, the seventh episode is called "Dead Man Walking", for starters... the eighth "A Day in the Death", and I found this comment:

Epiode 7 and 8 were being filmed as part of a block. I saw Jack and owen being thrown into the back of a police car. When the car drove away two weavels appeared, so expect the weavils back for either episode 7 or 8.

...What are weavils?

I'm so mad! They can't have killed Owen! That's just not fair! I mean he never was one of my favs but he need(ed) to be there!! He's Owen, without him it'll not be the same anymore! :( Yeah guys, make me feel even worse than I already do! ^^ I can't even watch Torchwood for distraction anymore because it makes me sad! Damn it!
the oncoming whirlwind: tw: jack - coffeescap3goat on February 16th, 2008 10:45 am (UTC)
It's my fierce opinion that he'll be back because otherwise they wouldn't have postponed the post-mortem to the next ep.
Yeah, it's a shockingly true death (=out of the blue) but they can't waste and ep on mourning. It hasn't the trademarks of he's gone and will stay gone. His death being carried over to the next ep is like Rose being defragged on Games Station and then she woke up with the Daleks.
Actually I start to like the concept, 'cause it's very interesting - of course not for those who were glad to have gotten rid of Owen (I started to honestly like him!).
